Bourbon Caramel Sauce with Sea Salt

I’ve been meaning to make this for a while now, though I’m not sure what I’ll use it on… probably everything 😛  Tonight I dipped apple slices in it, delicious!  It’s rich and creamy with just a hint of whiskey. yum!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

1 cup of sugar

1/4 cup of water

1/2 cup of heavy cream

1 tbs of whiskey (I used Monkey Shoulder)

A dash of sea salt

First, heat the sugar and water over medium heat until it becomes a dark amber color, 15-20 mins, be careful not to burn it!!

Next, remove the caramelized sugar from the heat and slowly mix in the cream.

Place the pot back on the warm burner and mix in the bourbon and salt. Stir until completely mixed and smooth.

Pour into a heat proof container in the fridge to cool.  Bring back to room temperature in a bowl of warm water or in the microwave before use.

ENJOY!! over apples, ice cream, anything!
